Mō te tūnga | About the role This is an amazing opportunity to work in our dynamic Responsiveness to Māori team, as a Kaitakawaenga Iwi Liaison Officer to service the Waikato Policing district. Community Engagement Experience You've worked ‘kanohi ki te kanohi' alongside individuals, whānau to navigate the complex situations affecting their lives. You're comfortable being involved in community-based mahi, and have collaborated with marae, service providers, and post-settlement entities. Cultural Confidence You bring a solid understanding of Te Ao Māori, tikanga, and kawa, and you're confident navigating different cultural situations and spaces with respect and integrity. Relationship Building You know how to build and maintain strong, respectful relationships with a wide range of people. You're able to support and influence positive outcomes that reflect the needs and aspirations of the NZ Police and community. Adaptability and Innovation You're responsive to the changing needs of the community and can adjust your approach as needed. Whakaritenga motuhake | Special requirements This role is based in Thames but services Coromandel Peninsular, Hauraki Plains, Matamata-Piako, Waihi and Waihi Beach. Flexibility and travel will be required. Can show relevant skills, knowledge and experience connecting with Maori across all sectors. Including but not limited to, Iwi Post settlement entities, service providers and organisations, hapu and marae. Utu ā-tau | Salary This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $88,179 and $101,804 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
