Smart Finance Committee – Independent Member Opportunity Queenstown Lakes District Council is seeking an Independent Member to join its Smart Finance Committee. The Smart Finance Committee plays an important role in supporting Council's financial stewardship and oversight responsibilities. The Committee monitors Council's financial strategy and performance against the Long Term Plan and Annual Plan, determines financial matters within its delegated authority, and makes recommendations to Council on significant financial matters. The Committee comprises: Councillor Heath Copland (Chair) Councillors Niki Gladding, Nicola King, and Matt Wong We are seeking an individual with strong financial expertise and governance experience who can provide independent, objective advice and contribute to robust financial decision-making. Experience in areas such as accounting, auditing, treasury, risk management, corporate finance, investment, or local government finance would be highly regarded. The successful candidate will: Demonstrate strong financial literacy and analytical capability Bring an independent and impartial perspective Have experience operating in governance, advisory, or senior leadership environments Be comfortable reviewing complex financial information and contributing to strategic discussions Be committed to supporting sound financial stewardship for the Queenstown Lakes district In fulfilling their role, the Independent Member must remain impartial and independent at all times.
