Crane Operator | Marine Construction Ready to put your crane skills to work on some of New Zealand's most exciting marine construction projects? Join Our Marine Construction Team We are looking for an experienced and safety-focused Crane Operator with experience operating mobile cranes up to 80 tonnes to join our growing marine construction team. Working across Auckland and Northland, you'll operate cranes on barges and marine construction sites, supporting a variety of challenging and rewarding projects, including piling, dredging, wharf construction, demolition, and general marine works. Reporting to the Operations Manager or Site Supervisor, you'll be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of cranes and lifting equipment. About the Role Key Responsibilities Safely operate cranes and lifting equipment on barges and marine construction sites. Carry out daily pre-start inspections and report any faults or maintenance requirements. Lift and position piles, steel, timber, plant, and construction materials. Assist with loading and unloading barges and trucks. Follow lift plans, site instructions, and safe work procedures. Work closely with dogmen, riggers, skippers, and site crews to ensure safe lifting operations. Maintain cranes, lifting gear, and work areas to a high standard. Complete basic maintenance, safety, and job records. Assist with general barge and construction duties as required. About You You’ll be a reliable team player with a strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship. You’ll have: Previous experience operating an 80-tonne mobile crane. Either Lattice Boom and Crawler Crane or similar. NZQA Unit Standards qualification or the New Zealand Certificate in Cranes (Level 4 – Mobile Crane strand), or the ability to demonstrate equivalent competency. Sound knowledge of lift planning, load charts, crane setup, and safe lifting practices. Excellent understanding of WorkSafe New Zealand crane safety requirements. Current Site Safe Passport. Working at Heights certification. Experience operating cranes on barges or marine construction sites (highly desirable). A practical, hands-on attitude and strong communication skills. A full New Zealand driver's licence (preferred). The ability to pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing. What We Offer Competitive hourly rates.
