Senior Project Manager - Capital Delivery

Rotorua Lakes Council
Rotorua, BOP, NZ Full Time
Reference: 08610ca1b50fbc9c

Job Description

\n

We are looking for a Senior Project Manager - someone who can bring order to complexity, manage consultants and contractors without outsourcing accountability, protect scope, cost and programme, and build trust with sponsors, stakeholders and delivery partners.

\n

If you're happy where you are, that's absolutely fine. We're always keen to connect with talented people who excel at what they do and are open to exploring what the right next step might look like.

Why Rotorua?\n
    \n
  • Rotorua is one of New Zealand's most unique places to live and work. Renowned for its stunning lakes, geothermal landscapes, vibrant Māori culture, and world-class mountain biking and outdoor recreation, Rotorua offers an exceptional lifestyle alongside meaningful career opportunities.
  • \n
  • Working at Rotorua Lakes Council gives you the opportunity to deliver projects that have a visible and lasting impact on our community. Whether you enjoy adventure, family-friendly living, strong community connections, or the satisfaction of shaping the future of a growing district, Rotorua offers the chance to build a rewarding career while enjoying an outstanding quality of life.
  • \n
  • This is an opportunity to work on projects that matter, in a place where you can genuinely enjoy both work and play.
  • \n
\n

Our Capital Delivery Team delivers a wide range of work: large-value infrastructure projects, smaller but important community projects, horizontal and vertical infrastructure, and almost anything that genuinely needs project discipline to get from idea to outcome. Check out these videos highlighting some of our recent projects:

\n
    \n
  • We review the submission pack against the realities of the role.
  • \n
  • We will have an initial Teams conversation to get to know each other properly- less of a formal interview, more of an authentic professional discussion.
  • \n
  • The next stage of the process is an in-person meeting exploring parts of the work environment and giving both sides a genuine opportunity to see if there’s synergy and a strong fit.
  • \n
\n

Built environment and infrastructure experience is preferred, but genuine Project Management experience is essential. Experience across government, client, consultant or contractor environments would be valuable. The main thing we are looking for is the PM in the person: judgement, discipline, ownership, pace, integrity, and the ability to deliver through others.
