Real-Time Artist (All Levels)
About Us
For over two decades, The Boundary has been at the forefront of digital excellence. With a global team of 150+ experts across London, New York, Dubai, and Auckland, we partner with the world's leading developers to deliver unparalleled architectural storytelling.
Founded by award-winning architects, our work sits at the intersection of design intuition and technical mastery. From pioneering digital twin infrastructure to the seamless integration of AI and real-time technology, we don't just anticipate the future of the industry; we are already building it.
The Opportunity
Our Real-Time team is expanding, and we are looking for a Real-Time Artist dedicated specifically to our Interiors stream. Whether you are an emerging talent looking to accelerate your growth or an experienced artist seeking to push the boundaries of visualisation, we want to hear from you.
In this role, you will bring luxury residential spaces to life using cutting edge real-time technology. Working alongside our internationally recognised team, you will craft rich, atmosphere driven interior environments that captivate clients and elevate architectural storytelling.
Location & Collaboration: Our work thrives on shared vision and in-person collaboration, making this a primarily office-based role in our Auckland studio (located in Freemans Bay). We offer flexibility for some hybrid work, but all applicants must either be currently based in Auckland, New Zealand, or prepared to relocate at their own expense. We are not accepting fully remote candidates at this stage.
Any application without a visual portfolio will not be considered.
What You'll Do
You will transform architectural interior concepts into interactive, real-time visualisations within Unreal Engine, taking projects from raw design through to modelling, lighting, scene optimisation, and client presentation.
Your core responsibilities will include:
Scene Creation & Interior Optimisation: Model, light, texture, and optimise detailed 3D real-time interior scenes, architectural details, and props, ensuring exceptional visual quality while maintaining peak technical performance.
Pipeline & Project Execution: Deliver luxury spaces within set project timelines and budgets, collaborating closely with the Real-Time Artist team and adapting smoothly to evolving design requirements.
Collaborative Storytelling & Mentorship: Support client delivery and internal review workflows. Depending on your experience level, you will either gain direct mentorship from senior artists or help guide, teach, and support junior team members.
To get a sense of the projects you will be shaping, take a look at a few interior environments we've recently delivered, such as AVRA and Hollick Place, or browse our wider portfolio here.
What You'll Bring
Core Technical Expertise: Solid proficiency in Unreal Engine and Autodesk 3ds Max, backed by a strong understanding of real-time 3D rendering pipelines, scene optimisation, and asset workflows.
Eye for Luxury Interiors & Lighting: A refined artistic sense for interior space, materials, camera composition, and atmospheric lighting that turns architectural design into emotive, highly polished experiences.
Adaptability & AI Curiosity: An open mind toward emerging technology, with a genuine interest in exploring and integrating AI tools, workflows, and new visual pipelines into your creative process.
Problem-Solving & Communication: Strong collaborative skills with the ability to self-check your work, troubleshoot technical hurdles, and communicate effectively with both internal teams and key stakeholders.
