We are seeking a dedicated Learning Adviser – English Language Enrichment (ELE) to join the Learning and Teaching Development team within Student and Scholarly Services. In this role, you will support students and staff to strengthen their academic English and writing skills. You will design, deliver and evaluate workshops, advisory sessions, and resources that enable students to achieve success in their studies. Working closely with colleagues and stakeholders such as DELNA, you will contribute to strategic initiatives that enhance student learning, engagement, and retention. Key responsibilities include: Delivering academic English and writing development support, including workshops, speaking groups, and one-to-one advisory sessions. Designing and maintaining academic writing and English language resources, including online materials. Collaborating with faculties and service divisions to integrate language enrichment into curriculum and student success initiatives. Supporting DELNA-related activities, including referrals, assessments, and student learning plans. Contributing to continuous improvement by evaluating services, monitoring student needs, and incorporating research and best practice. Providing professional development to academic and professional staff on supporting students with English as an additional language. This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week), permanent role. The salary range for this role is $87,000 - $93,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. You will be a highly skilled educator with strong expertise in academic English, academic writing, and language enrichment. You will also bring: At least five years’ experience supporting students with English language and academic writing in a tertiary context. Understanding of teaching English as an additional language and academic literacy requirements. Ability to analyse student learning needs and design effective learning pathways. Strong facilitation and teaching skills. Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills. A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and equity in education. Preferred: TESOL or EAL teaching qualification. Experience mentoring or coaching colleagues. Experience working with international students. Familiarity with learning management systems such as Canvas and teaching technologies.
