About the role Are you a hands on leader who thrives behind the scenes of live entertainment, keeping venues running like clockwork? Spark Arena is looking for an Operations Supervisor to join the team, playing a key role in preparing Auckland's premier arena for the world class events that pass through its doors. Reporting to the Operations Coordinator, you'll supervise the setup and breakdown of staging, seating, curtains, sports surfaces and function spaces, all while leading a team of casual operations staff. You'll be a steady hand during load in and load out, balancing multiple priorities, troubleshooting on the fly and ensuring every event is delivered safely and to a professional standard. This is a great opportunity to step into a supervisory role at one of New Zealand's most iconic venues. What you'll be doing Event setup and bump in: Supervise the erection, operation and breakdown of staging, seating, curtains and sports surfaces across a variety of events. Team leadership: Guide and support casual operations staff, communicating tasks, schedules and timeframes clearly. Equipment and maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and storage of arena equipment, including truss, curtain systems and portable signage. Health and safety: Play an active role in H&S compliance, contractor inductions and emergency response planning. Stakeholder liaison: Work closely with promoters, production managers and contractors throughout load in and load out. Problem solving: Think on your feet, prioritising tasks and resolving issues as they come up in a live event environment. Documentation: Contribute to and help maintain SOPs and technical documentation. Rapid response: Support Spark Arena's Rapid Response Team as an active member when required. What you'll bring Leadership experience: A proven ability to lead and motivate teams of casual labour. Technical literacy: Confidence reading and interpreting technical drawings. Hands on skills: Comfortable working with hand and power tools in a live event setting. Communication skills: Clear, professional communication with internal teams and external stakeholders. Event know how: Experience in event operations or venue back of house work is highly regarded. Safety focus: Training or experience in Occupational Health and Safety, with certified experience working at heights an advantage. Computer literacy: General PC proficiency for documentation and scheduling. Flexibility: Willingness to work variable hours including evenings, weekends and public holidays as event schedules require.
