About the Role The General Manager Supply Chain holds a critical national leadership role within Procurement, Supply Chain & Health Technology Management (PSC&HTM), with responsibility for the performance, resilience, and continuous improvement of Health New Zealand's end-to-end supply chain network. Leading a nationally distributed workforce of more than 500 kaimahi, this role ensures essential clinical products are reliably available across the health system to support frontline care. This is a rare opportunity to lead a supply chain function of true national significance while helping deliver a major transformation programme that will modernise supply chain infrastructure, systems, visibility, and ways of working across Health New Zealand. Key responsibilities include: Providing national leadership across inventory optimisation, purchasing, logistics, and distribution to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient service delivery. Maintaining continuity of supply for essential clinical products, strengthening system resilience, and proactively managing supply chain risks. Enabling a nationally coordinated, regionally and locally delivered model that balances consistency, scale, and responsive on-the-ground services. Leading the Supply Chain Network of the Future and delivering a significant transformation agenda, including improvements to infrastructure, systems, processes, visibility, resilience, and operating models. Embedding standardised systems, leading supply chain practices, and continuous improvement to improve performance, reduce waste, and optimise clinician time for care. About the Team/Service The Procurement, Supply Chain and Health Technology (PSC&HTM) team at Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora are a national function with a vast and complex scope. They play a critical role in ensuring the availability, safety, and efficiency of clinical and non-clinical goods and services across the health system. Responsible for managing and influencing over$9 billion in annual spend, the team are central to delivering high-quality patient outcomes and standardising product usage across regions. About you You are a highly experienced and values-driven supply chain executive with 15+ years' experience across the breadth of supply chain management and a proven track record of leading large-scale supply chain operations in complex, high-volume environments. You bring the strategic, operational, financial, and commercial capability required to lead a nationally significant function through transformation while maintaining safe, reliable, and efficient service delivery. You will also have: 10+ years at senior management level, with proven experience leading large-scale supply chain operations in complex and dynamic environments. Demonstrated ability to operate credibly at executive and board level, managing organisational risk, business continuity, and complex stakeholder environments. Strong strategic financial and commercial capability, with a track record of delivering sustainable operational and financial value while maintaining service quality and patient outcomes. The ability to lead through complexity and ambiguity, while building trusted relationships across clinical, operational, corporate, and supplier networks. Proven experience translating strategic objectives into measurable operational outcomes and sustainable organisational benefit.
