About the Team | Service | Location TheAdult General Service sits within Specialist Mental Health Services, WaitahaCanterbury. The service includes acute inpatient care, community teams,emergency mental health, assertive outreach, rural mental health, earlyintervention and psychiatric consultation services. Across these teams, weprovide comprehensive assessment, treatment and ongoing support for adults withserious and acute mental illness. A range of opportunities for ConsultantPsychiatrists is available. Youwill work alongside an experienced and cohesive team of psychiatrists,psychologists, nurses, occupational therapists, social workers, livedexperience specialists and Pūkenga Atawhai. Together, we deliver evidence‑based,person‑centred care guided by five strategic pillars: Mana Tangata — Specialist care forpeople with serious or acute mental illness. Matatau — Expert clinical assessment andtreatment grounded in specialist knowledge. Mahi Tahi — Collaborativepractice with consumers, whānau and multidisciplinary teams. You bring: Vocationalregistration (or eligibility) with the Medical Council of New Zealand inPsychiatry. Fellowshipwith RANZCP or an equivalent recognised qualification. Experienceacross adult mental health settings—community, inpatient or crisis Strongcommunication skills and a compassionate, partnership‑based approach to care. Acommitment to clinical excellence, continuous improvement and equitableoutcomes. Internationalapplicants are warmly welcomed.
