The Opportunity This role is ideal for a Leading Hand or Foreperson ready to take ownership of daily site operations. You’ll work across a range of 3-waters projects , including water supply, wastewater, and stormwater installations. Day to day you’ll lead a small team, supervise work quality, ensure compliance with standards, and keep the project running safely and efficiently. Installing potable water, wastewater, and stormwater assets to Christchurch City Council and national standards Supervising crews and subcontractors to ensure safe, productive site operations Reading and interpreting plans and ensuring accurate installations Ordering materials, coordinating plant, and supporting daily planning with the Site Supervisor Completing site documentation, daily records, QA checks, and as-built support Maintaining a strong focus on health, safety, and environmental compliance Acting as a technical expert for water installation work on site Upholding HEB’s values and supporting a positive team culture What You’ll Bring To thrive in this role, you will have: Mandatory Certified Water Installer qualification (e.g., CCC Water Supply & Drainage Certification or equivalent competency recognised by local authorities) Solid experience in heavy civil 3-waters construction Proven capability supervising teams or operating at Leading Hand / Foreperson level Strong understanding of New Zealand standards for water, wastewater, and stormwater installation Ability to interpret plans, QA requirements, and as-built processes Full Class 1 licence (WTR or Class 2+ advantageous) Commitment to safety, quality, and collaborative working Ideal Attributes Competency operating small plant (e.g., rollers, plate compactors, small diggers) Strong communication skills – able to give clear direction and build trust with your crew Able to mentor and develop less experienced team members Problem-solver with an eye for detail and quality workmanship Reliable, self-motivated, and calm under pressure What We Offer Competitive hourly rate Tools of trade Health, injury and Life insurance Long-term, stable projects based in Christchurch Supportive team environment with opportunities to step further into leadership Access to HEB’s wider benefits (birthday off!), training, and development programmes The chance to contribute to meaningful infrastructure that supports local communities Reference # 29659 Posted on 24 Jul 2026 Closes on 28 Aug 2026 17:00 Location(s) Christchurch Expertise Drainlayer, Foreperson, Leading Hand, Water Reticulation Service Person, Supervisor #J-18808-Ljbffr
