Civil Drainage Labourer (Otago)

HEB Construction’s Civil team based in Queenstown is looking for a hardworking and reliable Heavy Civil Drainage Labourer to support our drainage and civil crews across the region. This is a hands-on role working on major infrastructure projects, including 3-waters, subdivisions, roading, and heavy civil earthworks. If you enjoy physical work, want to build your skills, and are keen to be part of a high-performing team, this is the opportunity for you. What You’ll Be Doing Assisting with installation of stormwater, wastewater, and water supply pipelines Supporting excavation, trenching, shoring, and pipe-laying operations Backfilling, compaction, and site reinstatement work Operating small tools and supporting machinery/plant operators Spotting for machine operators and maintaining safe exclusion zones General labouring duties around active heavy civil construction sites Ensuring a clean, safe, and well-organised work area What We’re Looking For Experience in civil drainage or heavy civil construction (preferred, but training available for the right person) Ability to work safely around machinery and trenches Good level of physical fitness and willingness to work outdoors in all conditions Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to safety Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and good communication skills Full driver’s licence (Class 1 required; WTR an advantage) Ability to pass pre-employment checks (drug/alcohol etc.) What's in it for you?
