Café Assistant

Desire Holdings Limited is seeking two motivated and reliable Café Assistants to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis. We are looking for customer-focused individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced café environment.

Our café operates 7 days a week from 6:45 am to 3:30 pm . Successful applicants must be available to work rostered shifts, including weekends and public holidays.

As an Experienced Café Assistant , you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, preparing and serving high-quality food and beverages, and supporting the wider café team during busy service periods.

• Provide excellent customer service.
\n
• Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system and process customer transactions.
\n
• Prepare and serve food and beverages.
\n
• Prepare coffee and other café drinks (barista experience is an advantage).
\n
• Deliver food and beverages to customers.
\n
• Clear and clean tables promptly.
\n
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene throughout the café.
\n
• Assist with café opening and closing procedures.
\n
• Monitor and replenish stock levels.
\n
• Work effectively with the kitchen team to ensure efficient service.
\n
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures.
\n
• Perform other reasonable duties as required.
\n

Successful applicants must:

• Have at least 6 months of relevant experience in a café, restaurant, or other hospitality environment.
\n
• Have a positive and professional attitude.
\n
• Be reliable, punctual, and well presented.
\n
• Have excellent customer service and communication skills.
\n
• Be able to work efficiently under pressure.
\n
• Work well both independently and as part of a team.
\n
• Barista experience is an advantage but is not essential.
\n
• An understanding of basic food safety, hygiene and cleaning standards
\n
• Flexibility to work rostered shifts, including weekends.
\n

• Must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand or be eligible to obtain an appropriate work visa.
\n
• Must be physically capable of carrying out the duties of the role.
\n
• Reliable transport is preferred due to rostered shifts.
\n
• A pre-employment drug test may be required.
\n

• Two permanent, full-time positions.
\n
• A guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week .
\n
• Competitive pay rate, $26.00 to $28.00 per hour, depending on experience .
\n
