We are looking for passionate and driven graduate dentists to join our modern team based dental practice at our facilities in Otepoti, Dunedin and Tamaki Makaurau, Auckland.

The role | Te mahi

The Faculty of Dentistry invites applications for up to four full-time fixed term positions across both campuses with the possibility of three positions in Otepoti, Dunedin and one position in Tamaki Makaurau, Auckland, commencing 2027.

In these roles you will work with experienced clinicians to provide a wide scope of general dental procedures including urgent care. Throughout this placement, you can benefit from ongoing mentoring, training, support, and coaching.

These early career positions offer a unique opportunity where you can have the ability to gain valuable clinical experience under the mentorship of experienced dentists and academics within the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Otago.

You can build and enhance your clinical skills in a culturally supportive environment that includes dental treatment delivering planned treatments and urgent care.

We seek Dentists within their first three years of working, who could value interacting with other professionals and who thrive on working in a supportive environment founded on teamwork, integrity, and social responsibility. You aspire to form a firm foundation of clinical skills and there can be opportunities to get involved in teaching, research, or postgraduate learning.

To be successful in this role, you should also have:
Strong knowledge and understanding in all areas of general dentistry.
Exceptional communication and patient care skills.
An ability to work in a large cohesive team environment.
Outstanding time management and organisational skills.
A strong desire to consolidate your clinical skills in a supportive environment.
An ability to provide high quality dental care to all age groups of patients.
A drive to support students as a mentor in areas commensurate with your clinical expertise.
Knowledge or the ability to acquire knowledge of procedures, policies, regulations and standards of practice.

Applicants must be registered or registrable with the Dental Council of New Zealand (DCNZ).

We have multiple, full-time (1 FTE), fixed term (18 January 2027 - 14 January 2028) positions, located in Otepoti, Dunedin or Tamaki Makaurau, Auckland.

The salary for these positions is $79,812 per annum.
