Analytical Laboratory Technician

Pinpoint is an independent testing laboratory established in 2020 by EastPack, New Zealand’s leading grower‑owned kiwifruit post‑harvest company, to provide sampling and maturity clearance testing to customers across the Bay of Plenty region. We have an exciting opportunity to join our Pinpoint team as an Analytical Laboratory Technician on a full‑time permanent basis. Reporting to the Analytical Laboratory Manager, you will be supporting the analytical lab team to ensure all lab operations meet the highest standards of quality and compliance, to provide a reliable and professional service for our clients, while also contributing to research and method development. Meticulous processing of all analytial lab samples within required timeframes Completing daily equipment calibrations Conducting routine and non‑routine chemical and physical analyses on various samples Preparing samples and reagents according to established protocols Accurately recording and documenting all data and results in our SLIMs Maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment and troubleshooting any minor issues Routine lab maintenance, restocking supplies and managing chemical waste Participating in verfication and validation of test methods Overseeing supply and reordering of gases and consumables Ensuring best practice processes are carried out during testing, including adherence to health, safety, hygiene and quality control protocols Understanding and interpreting test results and escalating any concerns in a timely manner Assisting with investigations related to any customer complaints related to the analytical lab Identifying, recording and investigating nonconforming work to implement corrective actions This can be a busy and fast‑paced role, which will require you to be able to be adaptable and work well both independently and collaboratively within a team, so excellent interpersonal, time management, and organisation skills are crucial. Tertiary qualification in a relevant field Proven experience working in an analytical laboratory setting An understanding of the kiwifruit industry and fruit sampling processes Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation and techniques (LCMS/GCMS or microbiology preferred) Proficiency with Laboratory Information Management systems (LIMS) Solid understanding of laboratory safety protocols and compliance regulations Handling of hazardous chemicals certification and experience preferred Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and problem solving skills Ability to remain calm under pressure Understanding of the importance of health and safety Effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to be flexible with work hours to accomodate seasonal demands and sometimes long hours including weekends, if required Applicants need to be legally entitled to work in New Zealand.
