Kitchen Manager – Full time Please note that you must already have work rights in New Zealand to be considered for this role. We are looking for a full-time Kitchen Manager to lead the smooth day-to-day running of kitchen support operations, with overall responsibility for the Stewarding department. Reporting to the Executive Chef, this role is responsible for leading the Stewarding Team and ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, food safety, hygiene, kitchen organisation, and operational support are maintained across the hotel’s kitchen areas. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the Stewarding department, ensuring the team is well trained, organised, and consistently delivering to hotel standards Recruit, roster, coach, and develop the Stewarding team, including onboarding, performance reviews, and day-to-day leadership support Oversee the cleanliness and hygiene of all kitchen preparation and storage areas, including dishwashing areas, fridges, freezers, loading docks, and colleague canteen spaces Ensure compliance with HACCP, food hygiene regulations, health and safety requirements, and correct chemical handling procedures Manage kitchen equipment, chinaware, silverware, and glassware, including cleaning, storage, usage, and maintenance Conduct stocktakes and breakage reporting, investigate discrepancies, and support control measures and training Coordinate waste management and support buffet and event set-ups to ensure back-of-house operations run smoothly Manage kitchen administration including payroll, rosters, KPIs, stock records, food labels, and appraisal documentation Support regular reporting and analysis across food costs, labour costing, and other operational measures Work closely with the Kitchen, F&B, and wider hotel teams to ensure strong communication and smooth service delivery Promote sustainable work practices across the kitchen, including waste segregation, responsible chemical usage, and environmentally responsible purchasing practices Our ideal candidate We are looking for a hands-on leader who understands that strong kitchen operations depend on a highly organised and well-run stewarding function. You will be confident managing people, maintaining standards, and supporting a busy kitchen environment where cleanliness, safety, and efficiency are critical.
