About the Role Associate Charge Nurse Manager (ACNM) roles are essential in creating partnerships with Maaori across all levels including taangata whaiora, whaanau, Maaori staff and the Kaitakawaenga team. This role works in partnership with, and supports, the Charge Nurse Manager to provide clinical and operational leadership within a busy acute mental health unit. The focus is on supporting the delivery of safe, effective, and recovery-focused care for taangata whaiora. The Associate Charge Nurse Manager ( ACNM) is a key senior role within the team and contributes to maintaining a therapeutic environment while supporting the appropriate management of risk and safety. We currently have one ACNM position available now and three others pending. Responsibilities of the role Supports the CNM to build a high performing team that upholds the culture, values, mission and vision of the service. Assists with the management of the workflow and workload across the clinical area, including after hours. Provides clinical leadership and oversight for areas as delegated by the CNM. Engage and work collaboratively with all stakeholders, particularly taangata whaiora and whaanau. Supports the pursuit of Maaori health gains as well as achieving equitable health outcomes for Maaori. About the Team/Service Our new facility consists of two large units, each with their own high dependency areas and represents one of the most significant investments in acute adult inpatient mental health services in Waikato. While it introduces a contemporary purpose built facility, its true significance lies in the opportunity to redefine how care is experienced by taangata whaiora, their whaanau and loved ones. Both units have their own multidisciplinary team which include nurses, mental health assistants, doctors, psychologists, occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, Takawaenga, and activities facilitators. Experience in upholding Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Maatauranga Maaori and Kaupapa Maaori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings. A Registered Nurse who has demonstrated clinical experience in a mental health setting. Ability to display initiative and resourcefulness that will allow you to navigate the variety of challenges you could face. Ability to work weekends and after hours. Experience in leadership roles is an advantage. Sound clinical judgement and decision making capability.
