About the Role Reporting to the Project Manager, the Project Engineer – Planning will play a key role in the successful delivery of McConnell Dowell's Fangaʻuta Bridge Project in Tonga. Working on an 8 weeks on / 2 weeks off (8:2) swing rotation, you will be responsible for coordinating project planning, engineering, scheduling, and reporting activities to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with programme and quality objectives. Working closely with the Project Manager, Superintendents, Engineers, Surveyors, and construction teams, you will monitor project progress, coordinate engineering activities, manage construction schedules, and provide technical support to drive successful project outcomes. Key Responsibilities Coordinate engineering, planning, scheduling, and construction activities across the project. Develop, maintain, and monitor project programmes, look-ahead schedules, and progress reporting. Monitor project performance and identify risks, delays, and opportunities to improve programme delivery. Coordinate with Superintendents, Engineers, Surveyors, and subcontractors to ensure works are delivered in accordance with programme requirements. Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation, providing support to site teams. Assist in managing temporary works, procurement planning, construction methodologies, and engineering deliverables. Prepare progress reports, cost tracking information, manpower reports, and project performance updates. Support quality assurance activities, engineering audits, inspections, and compliance with project management systems. Promote and uphold McConnell Dowell's commitment to health, safety, environmental, and quality excellence. Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and project stakeholders. About You Tertiary qualification in Civil or Mechanical Engineering. Minimum 5 years' engineering experience within the civil construction industry. Demonstrated experience in project engineering, planning, scheduling, and project coordination. Strong understanding of construction methodologies, project controls, logistics, and engineering processes. Experience developing and maintaining construction programmes using project scheduling software. Excellent planning, organisational, and analytical skills. Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams. Sound understanding of Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality requirements. Self-motivated with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to programme deadlines.
