Expressions of Interest: Director of Allied Health, Older Persons Health & Rehabilitation (OPH&R) South Island - Canterbury – Christchurch, South Island We are seeking an experienced and visionary Allied Healthleader to join the Older Persons Health & Rehabilitation (OPH&R)Division as our permanent Director of Allied Health. This is a significant strategic leadership opportunity, responsible for providing professional leadership, governance and direction for the Allied Health workforce across OPH&R, while contributing as a key member of the divisional Senior Leadership Team. Reporting to the General Manager, Older Persons Health & Rehabilitation (OPH&R), with a professional reporting relationship to the Executive Director of Allied Health, Scientific and Technical - Waitaha and TeTai o Poutini, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of Allied Health services across the division. Based primarily at BurwoodHospital, you will work collaboratively across Health New Zealand | Te WhatuOra Waitaha sites to strengthen professional leadership, enable innovation and deliver high-quality, equitable health outcomes for the communities we serve. As Director of Allied Health, you will provide strategic leadership that strengthens the contribution Allied Health makes to integrated, person-centred models of care. You will partner with clinical, cultural and operational leaders to develop and implement innovative approaches that support early intervention, prevention, rehabilitation and enablement, aligned with the strategic goal of keeping people well in their homes. You will champion the Allied Health strategy and ensure our workforce is positioned to support the evolving needs of our population, Te Whatu Ora priorities and our commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Through strong relationships, professional governance and system leadership, you will enable Allied Health teams to deliver sustainable, equitable and effective services across the patient journey. This role requires a leader who is comfortable working across team, service and divisional boundaries to influence change and improve outcomes. You will lead and sponsor strategic programmes of work, support transformational change, and provide governance and professional oversight for Allied Health professionals across OPH&R. You will be an influential and collaborative leader who can balance strategic thinking with operational understanding. You will build trusted partnerships with General Managers, Clinical Directors, service leaders and Allied Health teams to identify opportunities, remove barriers and maximise the contribution of Allied Health to improving health outcomes. The successful candidate will bring: Significant leadership experience within a complex healthcare environment. A strong understanding of Allied Health practice, workforce development and professional governance. Experience leading change, service improvement and strategic initiatives. The ability to influence and collaborate across multidisciplinary and organisational boundaries. Experience in operational management of health services and teams. A commitment to improving equity and outcomes for our communities, including demonstrating an understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application within healthcare. Experience across a range of patient pathways will be highly regarded.
