Job Description

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be a senior procurement professional responsible for leading the procurement function and overseeing a small team (currently one direct report). You will take ownership of metal and critical consumables procurement, playing a key role in ensuring production continuity, supply chain resilience, and the ongoing profitability of the business. This is a high-impact role where your decisions will directly influence manufacturing performance. You will combine strong commercial capability with an analytical and technical mindset, working closely across the business to optimise sourcing strategies, supplier relationships, and procurement outcomes. This is a full-time position based in Christchurch. Your responsibilities will include: Leading and managing the procurement function, including responsibility for raw material and critical consumable purchasing. Managing the sourcing and supply of key metals required for our foundry operations. Working closely with the Materials Supply team and production stakeholders to support informed purchasing decisions. Developing demand forecasts and collaborating with the Supply Chain team to ensure supply continuity. Building and maintaining strong relationships with key metal suppliers and strategic partners. Negotiating supply agreements, contracts, and commercial arrangements to achieve value, security of supply, and long-term partnerships. Managing relationships with major outsourcing providers and suppliers of high-value or business-critical consumables. Identifying opportunities for cost improvement, risk reduction, and supply chain optimisation. About you You are an experienced procurement professional with a strong commercial mindset and the ability to operate in a technically complex manufacturing environment. You will bring a combination of strategic sourcing capability, supplier management expertise, and an understanding of the unique challenges associated with metal and foundry supply chains. You will have: A degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or Engineering (highly valued). A minimum of 10 years’ progressive procurement experience within an industrial, manufacturing, or international environment. Proven experience in strategic sourcing, contract management, and supplier relationship management. Experience in developing and negotiating contracts with key suppliers. Strong knowledge or experience in metallurgy, metal processing, metal recycling, or the procurement of metal raw materials (highly valued). The ability to understand technical requirements and translate them into effective procurement strategies. A strong analytical mindset combined with a pragmatic, commercially focused approach. Experience managing critical supply relationships and mitigating supply chain risks. The confidence to work collaboratively with engineering, production, materials, and supply chain teams. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced global manufacturing environment and deliver measurable results.
