We are looking for a Network Operator (Urban) to keep our electrical network running safely and reliably for our communities. Working under the direction of our Network Controllers, you'll carry out critical switching operations across HV and LV equipment, manage network events, and act as the “eyes and ears” in the field providing real-time updates that directly support safe and effective decision‑making. The role Carry out day to day electricity network switching procedures on HV to LV equipment Provide continuous situation reports to our Network Controllers regarding broken power lines, damaged cables and other safety related incidents Assist with electrical network fault‑finding (patrolling of lines, small repair work and sectionalising damaged parts of the network) Attend accidents and fires that involve our network when emergency services require our attendance, customer premise faults including minor service main repairs and HV/LV customer fuse replacements Gather statistical information related to electrical network loadings and operations About you Be available for emergency and customer callouts when on standby Ability to work autonomously at remote locations Naturally curious and solutions‑focused, always asking how things could be done better Have a current New Zealand Practicing License as an Electrician Experience in operating HV and LV power system equipment New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (Electrical), Certificate (Fault Response and Switching) or equivalent qualification You'll be driving a 4‑wheel drive vehicle equipped with all the tools required We offer You'll find at Orion, you can come as you are and just be you.
