The School of Agriculture and Environment at Massey University is seeking a Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in Agricultural Technology to join the team based at our Manawatu campus in Palmerston North. This position is a full-time, permanent opportunity. Mo tenei turanga mahi | About the role As a key member of our academic team, you will contribute to excellence in teaching, research, industry engagement, and postgraduate supervision, helping to advance the application of technology within New Zealand's agricultural sector and related farming systems. The role includes: Preparing and presenting lectures, tutorials and other classes with a focus on Agricultural Technology with an animal focus and aligned subjects, for students in our agricultural and animal science programmes. Leading and co-develop new curricula for courses that focus on the use of, practicability and economic feasibility of technology on New Zealand's animal based Agricultural enterprises and aligned farming systems. Utilising, introducing and developing modern teaching methods, including electronic/digital tools, with the purpose to demonstrably enhance students' learning experiences and outcomes. Designing and managing appropriate assessments for courses in line with the learning objectives of the courses. Developing and undertake an active, appropriate and viable personal research programme with a focus on Agricultural technology and participate in team-based research. Working proactively with industry and research partners. Developing post graduate opportunities and supervising post graduate students Publishing papers and other scholarly works in academic journals and books and through other media. Seeking both internal and external funding for research. Mou | About you The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications, experience, and capabilities: PhD in Agricultural Science, Animal Science, or a related discipline, with a focus on the application and/or development of technology. Candidates with a PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, and/or Artificial Intelligence may also be considered, provided they can demonstrate successful end-user application and stakeholder engagement. Proven track record of successful tertiary-level teaching. Experience conducting research, including the publication of scholarly articles in relevant fields.
