Our Graduate programme will give you an experience like no other working within our dynamic CBW (Consumer Bank and Wealth) Chief Operating Office (COO) team. The CBW COO team is the engine room that keeps Westpac\'s Consumer Bank running smoothly, delivering operational excellence and capability across the business to support great customer and business outcomes. You\'ll work alongside experienced leaders and teams on strategic initiatives, process improvements and business priorities, gaining valuable insight into how a major bank operates. A unique feature of the programme is a three-month placement in one of our bank branches. This hands‑on experience will help you build a deep understanding of our customers, frontline operations, and how COO teams support the delivery of great customer outcomes every day. Our programme is based in Auckland and runs for approximately 10-12 months. You\'ll join us as a permanent employee in February 2027 and begin with an immersive orientation alongside the wider graduate cohort, helping you build your understanding of Westpac NZ. At the end of the programme, you\'ll be supported to find a suitable role that aligns with your strengths, interests and career aspirations. Throughout the programme: COO Champions, leaders and mentors will support you during the programme experience. The programme is structured to help you identify your focus areas whilst tailored training sessions build and strengthen your technical and soft skills - accelerating your personal and professional career development. Expect to be able to give back by joining numerous communities, volunteering and sustainability initiatives rounding out your whole work life experience. The day to day: Project work : Assist in delivering various projects, such as process improvements, technology implementations, or operational efficiency initiatives. Data analysis : Work with data to identify trends, opportunities, and challenges, and provide insights to inform business decisions. Process mapping : Help map and document business processes to identify areas for improvement and optimise operations. Stakeholder engagement : Collaborate with stakeholders across the business, including senior leaders, to understand their needs and priorities. Reporting and metrics : Assist in developing and maintaining reports and metrics to track business performance and progress towards goals. Operational risk management : Contribute to identifying and mitigating operational risks, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Business improvement initiatives : Participate in initiatives to improve business processes, reduce costs, and enhance customer experience. Ōu Pūkenga | About You To be eligible, you must be in your final year of study or have completed an undergraduate or postgraduate degree within the past 12 months. Our Graduate opportunities are entry level roles giving those on the programme broad exposure across the relevant business unit. Additionally, applicants must be New Zealand or Australian citizens or permanent residents.
