Kairuruku Tautoko Putea - Finance & Administration Coordinator (Operations) Whakarewa represents a unique group of descendants who whakapapa back to one or more of 94 Ngāti Rārua tūpuna and 15 Te Ātiawa tūpuna. These ancestors are the original landowners of their Motueka homelands. Managing and nurturing these land holdings on behalf of and for the benefit of all the descendants of the original 109 owners. Mō te tūranga mahi - About the role This is a varied and hands-on role that sits at the heart of our operations. As Finance & Administration Coordinator, you will provide high-quality financial and administrative support across the organisation, working closely with the Office Manager and wider team. This position is offered on a fixed-term basis for 12 months, linked to a defined programme of work supporting a staged development initiative. The fixed-term nature reflects the current phase of organisational priorities and resourcing. Managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, and general ledger processes Preparing invoices, payment schedules, and supporting payroll processing Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting timely financial reporting Monitoring financial processes and identifying any discrepancies or control issues Providing administrative and coordination support across the organisation (including document preparation, scheduling, and enquiries) Supporting reporting, data integrity, and the maintenance of datasets across finance and operations Contributing to process improvements, systems, and new initiatives Assisting with Social Return on Investment (SROI) data collection and reporting Supporting a collaborative team environment and responding to day-to-day finance and administration queries Mōu - About you You are a capable and detail-oriented administrator with strong financial acumen who enjoys working in a purpose-driven environment. You bring a proactive approach, strong organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with care and accuracy. Ideally you will bring: Proven experience in finance administration, bookkeeping, or assistant accounting roles Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, payroll support, and general ledger processes Experience preparing financial reports and supporting month-end and year-end accounting activities Confidence working with accounting software such as Xero and strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the use of formulas, data analysis, and reporting tools Sound understanding of financial controls, data integrity, and compliance requirements Demonstrated ability to identify discrepancies, investigate issues, and maintain high levels of accuracy and attention to detail Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively across a range of stakeholders Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a small, collaborative team environment An understanding of, or interest in, Te Ao Māori and kaupapa Māori contexts (advantageous). A relevant qualification in finance, accounting, or business is desirable. This role has significant responsibility for maintaining the organisation's financial integrity and supporting sound financial decision-making.
