Job Description
Primary and intermediate (Years 1–8) / kura tuatahi, Certificated teacher English, Health and physical education, Learning languages, Mathematics and statistics, Science, Social sciences, Technology, Te reo Māori, The arts We're looking for a great teacher to join our small, connected kura in a permanent, full-time junior school position commencing Monday 12 October 2026. Whether you're an experienced kaiako looking for a fresh opportunity or a beginning teacher seeking excellent support, we'd love to hear from you. Bluff School is in an exciting period of revitalisation. In partnership with Te Pōhā – the Kāi Tahu education initiative – we're developing a meaningful localised curriculum grounded in the Kāi Tahu Education Plan and the stories, places and knowledge of Motupōhue. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future direction of our kura while strengthening culturally responsive teaching and learning. For an experienced teacher, a management unit may be available for literacy leadership, depending on experience and expertise. Beginning teachers will benefit from in-class mentoring and support, with an Advanced Classroom Expertise Teacher (ACET) available as a mentor. We also welcome applicants who require a Limited Authority to Teach while completing their teaching qualification and can offer flexibility around study commitments. We're seeking a teacher who is passionate about giving our youngest ākonga a positive start to school. Experience or training in structured literacy and structured numeracy is desirable. We currently use Numicon as our structured numeracy programme. An understanding of Kāi Tahutaka is an advantage, as is a willingness to learn. We would be especially interested in applicants with musical skills or interests, including kapa haka, who can contribute to the culture and life of our kura. If you're a positive, reflective kaiako who values strong relationships and wants to make a genuine difference, we'd love to hear from you. School visits are encouraged. Come south. Come to Motupōhue. Help shape the future with us. Type: Full Primary Authority: State Gender: Co-Ed Decile: 0 Roll: 108 Website: Postal Address: 39 Bradshaw Street, Bluff, 9814 #J-18808-Ljbffr
