Project Manager - Commercial Builds

A highly regarded and established main contractor with a strong track record of delivering quality projects on time throughout the Bay of Plenty is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their team. The business operates across a diverse range of sectors including industrial, dairy, retail, apartments, commercial, education, recladding, and healthcare, typically delivering projects ranging from $5M to $40M. Work is secured through a mix of Design & Build, competitive tendering, and negotiated projects from repeat clients. The Role Reporting directly to the Director, you will take ownership of 2–3 projects concurrently, leading delivery teams that include Site Managers and Foremen. Key responsibilities include: Managing day-to-day project operations and performance Maintaining regular communication with Site Managers, subcontractors, consultants, and stakeholders Monitoring and managing commercial and contractual matters Tracking, measuring, and controlling project costs Ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulatory requirements Driving strong health and safety performance across all sites Providing regular project reporting and updates to senior management About You To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess: A trade qualification, preferably supported by a relevant tertiary qualification 8–10+ years' experience managing commercial construction projects valued between $3M and $15M Proven experience delivering projects involving concrete and steel structures Strong knowledge of the New Zealand construction market and relevant legislation Advanced programming and scheduling skills, including proficiency with MS Project Excellent financial and cost management capabilities Strong written and verbal communication skills The ability to build effective relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors What's on Offer?
