We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Advisor Planning and Performance to join the Planning, Risk and Assurance team within Corporate and Digital Shared Services (CDSS). This role provides leadership across planning, performance and business management activities, helping to ensure CDSS delivers on its priorities and achieves strong organisational outcomes. Working across a diverse and evolving group, you will provide high-quality advice, performance insights and practical solutions that support effective decision-making and continuous improvement. As a trusted advisor, you will build strong relationships across the organisation, influence strategic outcomes, and help strengthen planning and performance capability. You will bring a systems-thinking approach, sound judgement and the ability to connect complex information into clear and actionable advice. The Planning, Risk and Assurance team supports the CDSS Group to deliver on its strategic priorities through integrated planning, performance monitoring, reporting, risk management and continuous improvement initiatives. In this role, you will: Lead the development and delivery of Group planning, performance monitoring and reporting frameworks that support strategic decision-making. Partner with senior leaders to develop business plans, performance insights and reporting products that drive delivery and accountability. Identify organisational challenges and opportunities, providing strategic advice and practical solutions that improve effectiveness and performance. Lead through influence, build organisational capability and promote high-quality planning, reporting and business management practices. MBIE supports a wide range of flexible working arrangements. Skills and Experience Required - Ngā pukenga me ngā wheako e hiahiatia ana We are looking for an experienced strategic advisor who thrives in complex environments and can work effectively across organisational boundaries. You will bring: Significant experience in organisational planning, performance management, monitoring and reporting. Proven success leading complex planning processes, programmes of work, or organisation-wide improvement initiatives. Strong strategic thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to connect strategy, planning, financial and non-financial performance information. Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, including experience partnering with senior leaders and delivering outcomes through collaboration and credibility. Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, build capability and drive change in complex organisational environments. Resilience, adaptability and sound judgement, with the ability to deliver quality outcomes in evolving and fast-paced settings. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive reporting and the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely. Knowledge of government planning, accountability and reporting frameworks, including an understanding of machinery of government, would be advantageous. You must: Have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand. Consent to and satisfactorily complete a credit check. Be able to obtain and maintain Police Vetting.
