Support Worker| Casual Contract - Rotorua Community Connections – Tauranga, North Island We are seeking dedicated Support Workers to join our passionate Supported Independent Living and Residential support teams in Rotorua. The Role We are seeking compassionate and adaptable Support Workers to join our amazing Rotorua team on a casual basis. This role may include weekend shifts and sleepovers, providing variety and the chance to make a meaningful impact in multiple settings. You will be working alongside individuals with a variety of support needs, including those with intellectual and physical disabilities, helping them live life to the fullest. Using a “do with, not for” approach, your focus will be on promoting independence, respecting daily routines, and building strong, trusting relationships. Just as importantly, you’ll encourage the people you support to grow their confidence, strengthen their community connections, and explore new opportunities to engage with the world around them. Please note: This is a casual position with no guaranteed hours. Shifts will be offered based on operational requirements, including covering periods of increased annual leave, sick leave, training, and other service needs across our Taupo and Rotorua services. Flexibility and availability to accept shifts at short notice will be highly regarded. About You You’ll bring a calm, respectful, and strengths-based approach to your work, along with a warm and person-centred mindset. Ideally, you’ll have experience—or a genuine interest—in supporting people with disabilities and mental health needs, and a willingness to keep learning and growing in your role. Your strong understanding of professional boundaries and privacy, combined with excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills, will help you build trusting relationships and thrive as part of a supportive team. Flexibility, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively will be key to your success in this role. Experience or understanding in any of the following areas is highly desirable: Positive behaviour support and skill-building approaches Working alongside people with complex communication needs Understanding of intellectual disability Utilising both verbal and non-verbal adaptive communication tools to build trust and connections. Full New Zealand Driver’s Licence Legal right to work in New Zealand Willingness to undergo Police and Oranga Tamariki vetting Availability to work weekdays, weekends and overnight shifts for residential services Availability to work between 8 am and 6.30 pm for supported independent living services Why Join Us?
