Ecological Restoration Team Member - Wildland Consultants - Christchurch

Wildland Consultants is seeking a motivated Ecological Restoration Field Team Member to join our Christchurch branch in a full‑time, permanent position. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about conservation and outdoor work to build a long‑term career in ecological restoration. About the Role You will be part of a dedicated field team carrying out ecological restoration tasks throughout Canterbury, including: Pest plant control Native planting Pest animal control Use of agrichemicals (herbicides), animal toxins, and traps Occasional work in remote areas, including overnight stays in basic accommodation This role is physically demanding and requires a strong commitment to working outdoors in all weather conditions. Skills, Knowledge and Experience A positive, can‑do attitude Prior experience working in pest plant control, wilding pine control, planting and pest animal control is preferred but not essential Willingness to work with agrichemical and animal toxins A passion for the outdoors and protecting New Zealand’s environment Experience working in back country environments is an advantage Strong communication and interpersonal skills Good decision‑making and problem‑solving abilities Ability to work both independently and as part of a team High level of fitness and reliability Health & Safety awareness Full NZ driver licence (preferred) On the job training and mentoring will be provided, including: Agrichemical handling (mixing and application) Pest plant control methods Plant identification Planting Handheld GPS and use of mobile apps (e.g. TrapNZ and ArcGIS Field Maps) Use and maintenance of hand tools Additional formal training will be provided as appropriate, and may include: Growsafe Controlled substance licence Chainsaw 4WD LUV/Quad bike Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa. #J-18808-Ljbffr
