About the Role We're looking for an experienced Senior Hydraulic Services Consultant (Plumbing Design) to join our growing Hamilton-based team. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside an experienced team of Hydraulic Services Consultants and BIM Modellers on a diverse range of projects, from high-end residential developments through to large-scale commercial, industrial, healthcare, education and multi-storey buildings. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you'll play a key role in the design, coordination and delivery of hydraulic systems from concept through to construction. Your Responsibilities As part of our hydraulic design team, you'll: Design hydraulic (plumbing) systems for residential, commercial and industrial developments. Complete hydraulic calculations for potable water, sanitary plumbing, sanitary drainage, stormwater, trade waste and wastewater systems. Design domestic and commercial hot water systems incorporating electric, gas, heat pump, solar and heat recovery technologies. Assist with rainwater harvesting, detention, retention and on-site disposal system design. Coordinate hydraulic services with architects, structural engineers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers and fire consultants. Work alongside our BIM coordination and modelling team to produce and review documentation using AutoCAD and Revit within a BIM environment. Provide technical guidance and mark-ups to drafting and modelling teams. Respond to contractor queries and provide construction support during project delivery. Ensure designs comply with the New Zealand Building Code, AS/NZS Standards and territorial authority requirements. Participate in design reviews, quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives. About You You’ll be someone who enjoys solving technical problems, values quality documentation and takes pride in delivering practical, buildable solutions. Ideally, you’ll have: Experience in hydraulic (plumbing) design within a building services consultancy or commercial plumbing environment. Strong understanding of AS/NZS 3500 and New Zealand plumbing and drainage compliance requirements. Experience designing potable water, sanitary plumbing, sanitary drainage, stormwater and trade waste systems. Excellent communication and coordination skills. A proactive, solutions-focused approach. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. A genuine passion for delivering practical, buildable engineering solutions. Qualifications We welcome applicants from a range of backgrounds, including: Certifying Plumbers with strong commercial plumbing and hydraulic design experience. Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Hydraulic Services Design. Engineering degree in Mechanical, Civil or Building Services Engineering. Equivalent practical experience will also be highly regarded. Highly Regarded Experience with any of the following would be advantageous: Hydraulic modelling software Contractor RFI responses and construction support. Multi-disciplinary project coordination.
