Job Description

St John of God Hauora Trust is seeking a Nurse Manager to provide day to day clinical and staff leadership within a defined unit or service area of our hospital-level disability service. We support adults aged 16–65 with complex neurological, physical, rehabilitation, and long term care needs. This role suits a practical nurse leader who enjoys working closely with staff and residents and supporting safe, well organised care delivery. Job Description About the role: Day to day leadership of nursing and support staff in your allocated area Reports to the Clinical Services Manager Operational, unit based role (not whole service or strategic) Works within established policies and service frameworks Key responsibilities include: Supporting safe, person-centred care for residents with complex needs Staff orientation, supervision, and performance support Oversight of care plans, risk plans, medication charts, and documentation Coordinating admissions, discharges, and transitions with the wider team Monitoring incidents, infections, and routine quality indicators Supporting roster coverage and skill mix Escalating clinical or staffing issues as required About you: Registered Nurse with a current NZ APC Minimum 5 years’ RN experience Experience as a Senior RN, Team Leader, or Acting Nurse Manager Confident supporting staff in complex care environments Organised, calm, and practical in your leadership approach Experience in disability, rehabilitation, or hospital level residential care is an advantage.
