Job Description

Communications & Community Engagement Lead Lead the development and delivery of communications, engagement, customer experience ensuring strong relationships, transparency and connection We are seeking an experienced and strategic Communications & Community Engagement Lead to play a pivotal role across the southern region. This is a leadership position responsible for shaping how the organisation is understood, experienced, and trusted by its customers, communities, and stakeholders. This role can be based any where across the South of the South Island. Or Hybrid. You will lead the development and delivery of communications, engagement, customer experience, and brand strategies ensuring strong relationships, transparency, and meaningful community connection. Key Responsibilities Strategic Communications & Narrative Develop and deliver an integrated communications strategy aligned to organisational priorities Shape a clear and consistent narrative that builds trust, confidence, and understanding Provide strategic communications advice to senior leaders and governance groups on risks and opportunities Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships Design and implement a comprehensive stakeholder engagement framework Lead proactive and transparent engagement with communities, councils, mana whenua, regulators, and key partners Foster strong, enduring relationships that support trust and social licence Customer Experience Define and embed a clear customer experience vision and principles Establish customer insights, feedback channels, and service standards Ensure customer perspectives inform operational design and service delivery About you Proven experience in senior communications, engagement, or public affairs roles Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate complexity into clear messaging Demonstrated success in stakeholder engagement across diverse groups Understanding of customer experience principles and community expectations Experience working within complex, evolving or highly visible environments Strong leadership, influencing, and relationship-building skills A commitment to continuous improvement and high standards of delivery Applicants must have a valid work visa, permanent residency or NZ citizenship to be considered.
