Residential Night Attendant - Te Maioha

Te Maioha Te Maioha is one of five Youth Justice residences across Aotearoa New Zealand run by Oranga Tamariki - Ministry for Children. Located in in Rotorua, Te Maioha provides a safe, secure and supportive environment where rangatahi (young people) who have offended can make changes and get their lives back on track. We provide 24/7 support and care for up to rangatahi aged 13 to 18 years old who are involved in the Youth Justice system and we understand that the causes of offending are complex, and that successfully dealing with young offenders demands action beyond simple punitive measures. Residential Night Attendants Residential Night Attendants at Te Maioha work rotating rostered shifts covering the hours 10pm - 6:30am 40 hours a week across 5 days a week, including weekdays, weekends and public holidays. The purpose of the role is to provide supervision of rangatahi within the residence and to ensure the security of kaimahi, rangatahi and the property overnight. Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring A full and clean NZ drivers' license and the ability to meet the vetting criteria under the Childrens Act 2014 Be a strong team player and positive role model The rostered shift hours of 10pm to 6:30am suit your lifestyle, and you enjoy the rhythm of overnight hours Demonstrate initiative and sound judgement with an ability to 'think on your feet' Excellent written and verbal communication skills Confidence across the Microsoft Office suite Experience in social services, including working with at-risk children or youth is preferred, but not essential!
