Marram Community Trust
Wellington, WGN, NZ Full Time

Job Description

Lead an organisation that's been quietly caring for New Zealanders for over 80 years. Since 1944, Marram Community Trust has lived by one simple idea: manaakitanga - caring for others and lending a hand when it's needed. What began as holiday homes for convalescing soldiers and their families is today a thriving community, supporting beneficiaries with healthcare financial assistance and access to beautiful, affordable holiday homes right across Aotearoa. No shareholders. No corporate owner. No profit motive. Just a genuine, enduring purpose and a long-serving, values-led team who are among the Trust's most treasured assets. We're now looking for a Chief Executive Officer to lead Marram into its next chapter. About the role Reporting to the Board of Trustees, you'll partner with the Board to set the vision and long-term strategy, safeguard the Trust's financial and charitable integrity, and keep beneficiaries firmly at the heart of every decision. You'll lead a close-knit team of around 16 staff, plus a nationwide network of House People and volunteers who care for our holiday homes. This is a rare blend of strategic and commercial leadership, genuine care for people, and stewardship of a remarkable legacy - doing today what the Trust set out to do in 1944. What you'll bring Proven senior leadership: CEO, GM or equivalent, with the maturity to plan for the long-term, not just fight today's fires. A drive for change: energy, vision and courage to modernise and future-proof the Trust, while protecting the culture and legacy that make Marram special. Governance experience: a real, working understanding of operating under a Board of Trustees. Commercial acumen: strong financial management, budgeting and investment oversight, with a macro-economic lens. People leadership: someone who can nurture and protect a values-led, long-serving team. Comfort in a tech-enabled environment: you don't need to be technical, but you'll make confident calls on IT investment and digital strategy. Sound knowledge of NZ charitable/trust structures, employment law and Health & Safety obligations. High integrity, sound judgement, and a genuine commitment to community wellbeing Nice to have Not-for-profit or commercial background (we've thrived with both), knowledge of the healthcare landscape, property or asset management experience, and cultural competency in te ao Māori. Why Marram? You'll step into an organisation with a purpose that has stayed true for more than 80 years, a team who genuinely care, and the chance to leave a legacy that lasts another 80. If you're a values-led leader ready to steward something truly special, we'd love to hear from you. #J-18808-Ljbffr
