About this opportunity

Based at our Temuka manufacturing site, the Health & Safety Advisor provides expert guidance, support and oversight to ensure the effective implementation of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) systems across the operation.

Working closely with the Business Unit Manager, Quality Manager and site leadership team, you'll help drive a proactive safety culture where everyone goes home safely every day

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Maintain and continuously improve the site's Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Management Systems, ensuring compliance with legislative and company requirements.
  • Drive health, safety, risk, and environmental initiatives that support a strong safety culture and operational excellence.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, ensure accreditations are maintained and corrective actions are completed within agreed timeframes.
  • Lead incident and injury investigations, including root cause analysis and the effective closure of corrective actions.
  • Partner with the Quality Manager and site leadership team to promote safe work practices and ensure HSE standards are understood and followed across the site.
  • Lead the Site Health & Safety Committee and support employee engagement in health, safety, and environmental initiatives.
  • Manage contractor compliance, environmental programs, and HSE documentation to ensure site standards are maintained and continuously improved.

Your skills and experience:

To be successful in this role, you'll have:

  • Certificate in Workplace Health & Safety (Level 4) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in a dedicated health and safety role, ideally within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation, principles and best practice.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining HSE management systems and supporting audits and accreditation processes.
  • Confidence in incident investigation, risk assessment and corrective action management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence, coach and build effective working relationships.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office applications for reporting and system management.
