Nga korero mo te turanga - About the role

As a Lecturer in Soil Science, you will contribute to teaching excellence and original research within the Earth and Environmental Science Team. Your research will focus on soil biogeochemistry and/or pedology, complementing and strengthening the School's research profile. You will teach soil science across undergraduate to masters-level programmes, contribute to postgraduate supervision, and participate in the academic and administrative life of the School.

This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week), continuing role based at our Hillcrest Campus.

The salary range for this position is $92,603 to $110,407 per annum, dependent on skills, knowledge, and experience. For further information, please refer to the position description. • A PhD in a relevant discipline
• A developing or established track record of high-quality research publications
• Demonstrated tertiary teaching capability, with a commitment to effective student learning and teaching innovation
• Ability to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including supervision of Honours, Masters and PhD students
• Potential to attract external research funding
• Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with students and colleagues
• Awareness of the value of Matauranga Maori in science, and the value of Kaupapa Maori approaches to teaching.

You will be self-motivated, with a demonstrated capacity to work effectively as a team member and to relate effectively and sensitively to students and staff from a variety of backgrounds and cultures.
