About the Team\n

You'll join a highly experienced technology team responsible for the nCino platform and its broader ecosystem across ASB. The team is focused on evolving and optimising critical lending and customer origination capabilities, supporting ongoing platform maturity, integration, automation and future business growth. Working closely with engineers, architects, product leaders and business stakeholders, you'll play a key role in ensuring the platform remains scalable, reliable and fit for the future.

About the Role\n

As Principal Engineer - nCino, you'll be the technical authority responsible for the integrity, performance and strategic direction of the platform. This is not a people leadership role. Instead, you'll lead through technical expertise, influence and credibility, helping teams make sound engineering decisions, uplift technical standards and solve complex platform challenges.

The role combines platform ownership, technical governance, engineering leadership and hands-on problem solving. You'll work across multiple squads and systems, helping modernise existing capabilities, reduce technical debt, optimise performance and support the delivery of future business initiatives. You'll also play a critical role in mentoring engineers, shaping standards and driving engineering excellence across the wider technology community.

Key Responsibilities\n

• Provide technical leadership across the nCino platform and its wider ecosystem
\n
• Drive platform evolution, performance optimisation and long-term sustainability
\n
• Establish and embed engineering standards, patterns and best practices
\n
• Lead technical governance and contribute to key design and decision-making forums
\n
• Guide architecture, integration and data design decisions across complex systems
\n
• Identify and reduce technical debt, platform risks and recurring operational issues
\n
• Support the delivery of strategic business and technology initiatives
\n
• Mentor and coach engineers through technical leadership, code reviews and design reviews
\n
• Improve platform observability, resilience, scalability and operational performance
\n
• Promote automation, DevSecOps practices and continuous improvement across engineering teams
\n
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes
\n
• Stay close to the technology through hands-on technical contribution where needed
\n

About You\n

You're a senior technology leader who enjoys solving complex engineering problems and influencing technical direction at scale. You bring strong software engineering fundamentals, a strategic mindset and a passion for building sustainable technology solutions. You thrive in environments where you can balance long-term thinking with practical delivery outcomes and are comfortable working across multiple stakeholders to align technology decisions with business goals.

You'll bring credibility through your technical depth, your ability to mentor others and your track record of delivering outcomes in complex, regulated environments.

Key Skills and Experience\n

• Significant experience in software engineering, platform engineering or solution architecture roles
\n
• Deep Salesforce engineering expertise, including development experience and platform-level technical knowledge
\n
• Experience working within financial services, banking or similarly regulated environments
\n
• Proven ability to lead technical strategy and influence architecture and engineering decisions
\n
• Strong understanding of enterprise integration patterns, APIs, event-driven architecture and data flows
\n
• Experience improving platform performance, scalability, resilience and operational excellence
\n
• Strong knowledge of modern engineering practices, CI/CD and DevSecOps principles
\n
• Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers and uplifting technical capability across teams
\n
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
\n
• Experience with nCino is highly desirable
\n
• Exposure to lending, loan origination, CRM platforms or core banking ecosystems will be highly regarded
\n
• Experience working across large-scale transformation, platform modernisation or migration programmes would be advantageous
