The team comprises immigration and refugee lawyers with considerable expertise in navigating complex bureaucratic requirements. The firm supports clients who may find the immigration system particularly challenging, offering clear guidance and practical solutions. Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Lawyer role based in Wellington. The Lawyer will advise and represent clients on New Zealand immigration matters and refugee issues, Daily responsibilities include meeting with clients, assessing legal options, preparing and reviewing legal documents, lodging applications and submissions, and managing case files. The role involves liaising with government agencies and other stakeholders, keeping clients informed of progress, and ensuring all work complies with relevant legislation and professional standards. The Lawyer will also contribute to internal knowledge-sharing, support continuous improvement of processes, and assist with developing firm-wide best practices. Qualifications Admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand, with a current New Zealand practising certificate or eligibility to obtain one. Demonstrated experience or strong interest in immigration and refugee law, including advising on visa categories, appeals, and related processes. Strong legal research, analytical, and drafting skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and accurately. Excellent client communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on empathy, cultural awareness, and maintaining confidentiality. Proven ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment. High attention to detail, sound professional judgment, and commitment to ethical and non-discriminatory practice.
