Social Worker - Contract Role

Independent Living – Wellington, North Island Social Worker – Contract Role (Including Sensitive Claims Work) Independent Living Limited specialises in the assessment and rehabilitation of a person’s functional needs arising from injury, medical, psychological, age-related, and work-related conditions. Independent Living currently holds a range of contracts with ACC. An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Social Worker to join our multidisciplinary team on a contract basis. Our service area covers Wellington, Hutt Valley, Porirua and the Kapiti Coast. This role would suit a registered social worker seeking flexible and occasional contract work, with the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a supportive team environment. About the Role The successful applicant will support kiritaki with a range of practical, social, and rehabilitation-focused needs, including: Assisting with financial affairs and accessing entitlements Liaising with external agencies including Ministry of Social Development, Kāinga Ora, social housing providers and community organisations Connecting clients with support services Supporting clients to overcome barriers impacting rehabilitation and community participation Assisting clients to engage with complex systems and services Advocating for clients and supporting informed decision making Sensitive Claims Work Some contract work may involve supporting ACC sensitive claims kiritaki who have experienced trauma. This may include: Providing trauma-informed social work support Assisting clients to engage safely in treatment and recovery Supporting clients experiencing anxiety, grief and loss, PTSD, or social isolation Helping whānau understand the impacts of trauma and strengthening support systems Assisting with complex social issues including housing, mental health, addictions, family harm, and care and protection concerns Working collaboratively with treatment providers and other professionals to support client wellbeing and rehabilitation goals The ideal applicant will demonstrate empathy, professionalism, strong boundaries, and the ability to work sensitively and effectively with vulnerable clients. Skills and Experience Applicants must have: NZ Social Work registration with a current Annual Practising Certificate and professional membership A minimum of three years’ clinical experience Excellent oral and written communication skills Strong organisational and relationship management skills The ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team Access to their own monthly professional supervision First Aid Certificate (current) Own vehicle and a current full NZ driver licence What We Offer Flexible contract hours A supportive and experienced multidisciplinary team Diverse and meaningful work within the rehabilitation sector A generous remuneration package for the successful applicant #J-18808-Ljbffr
