Medcall Health Personnel – Porirua, North Island Care on Call is passionate about supporting people in the community and we take pride in the personalised service we deliver to clients and the staff we work with. We are looking for a well-spoken, positive, and empathetic support worker who understands the complexities of challenging behaviours and can offer patient, respectful support—especially on days when the client is feeling unwell or emotionally overwhelmed. We are seeking a fantastic support worker who: Strong understanding of and experience with challenging behaviours Familiarity with ceiling hoist use Enjoys working with indoor plants and supporting light indoor gardening activities Non-judgmental and tolerant of strong language Team-oriented with good communication and collaboration skills Available for morning and late afternoon shifts, with occasional sleepovers Comfortable with full personal care, including shower assistance Able to assist with meal preparation Willing to help with shopping, collecting medication from the pharmacy, and monitoring household consumables—reporting to the office when supplies are low Understanding of neurological disorders is beneficial Familiar with power chair use Strong comprehension of directions and ability to carry out tasks independently Note: Full training and a thorough introduction will be provided by the existing care team to ensure a smooth transition and ongoing support. What we need from you: Have consistent and long-term availability (we like to ensure continuity with our clients) Minimum of Level 2 Health and Wellbeing certificate completed (or equivalent) After-school/weekend availability The legal right to work in NZ Previous experience as a caregiver/support worker with similar clients To be reliable, punctual, honest and caring Care on Call is passionate about supporting people in the community and we take pride in the personalised service we deliver to clients and the staff we work with.
