New World Pioneer is a large, locally owned and operated supermarket in Palmerston North. As a team we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining high standards throughout our store. We are looking for an experienced and motivated Deli & Seafood Manager to lead one of our busiest fresh food departments. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate leader who enjoys working with fresh food, developing people, and delivering an outstanding customer experience. About the Role As Deli & Seafood Manager, you'll be responsible for leading the day-to-day operation of the department, ensuring it is well stocked, visually appealing, and consistently delivering high-quality products and exceptional customer service. You'll lead and develop a dedicated team, manage ordering and inventory, create eye-catching displays, maintain food safety and health & safety standards, and identify opportunities to grow sales and continually improve department performance. You'll also work closely with suppliers and the wider leadership team to ensure the department continues to grow and succeed. This is a hands‑on role, so you'll be just as comfortable preparing and serving customers as you are coaching your team, planning ahead, and managing department performance. About You Previous leadership experience in a supermarket fresh food department, hospitality, or food retail environment A passion for fresh food and delivering outstanding customer service Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a high‑performing team Strong organisational, planning, and time‑management skills Experience with ordering, stock control, merchandising, and rostering The ability to analyse sales, manage costs, and identify opportunities for growth A good understanding of food safety and health & safety requirements Strong communication and relationship‑building skills Confidence using computer systems and learning new technology A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and the ability to lead by example Why Join Us Lead one of our busiest fresh food departments Be part of a supportive and experienced leadership team Opportunity to make your mark and drive department performance Ongoing training and professional development Join a successful, locally owned supermarket that values its people Applicants must hold New Zealand citizenship, permanent residency, or a valid New Zealand work visa.
