Full time Permanent Position Play a critical role within a high performing team Based at Auckland Regional Women's Corrections Facility - Waikato Hub (within Waikeria Prison premises) - South of Te Awamutu About the role As an Education Tutor you will support a variety of education programmes and activities offered to the tāne in our care. Key responsibilities include: Administering Literacy and Numeracy Adult Assessment Tools (LNAATs) Developing a pathway for learning with the tāne in our care Assisting Wahine in our care to utilise our secure online learning suite to improve job search skills Encourage prison-based learners to improve their literacy and numeracy skills Support engagement in self-directed learning Ensure all relevant learner information is recorded If you want to learn more about being an Education Tutor click here: https://careers.corrections.govt.nz/news-and-events/education-tutors-benefit-from-professional-development to visit our role page. About you We are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to join our education team. This is a rewarding opportunity to support prison-based learners to become better prepared for employment and/or further education. To be successful you will bring the following: Experience assessing and working with young people and adults who have not previously had education success Experience in engaging with Māori and Pasifika in education A strengths-based approach that embraces manaakitanga and whanaungatanga Demonstrate exceptional communication and organisation skills The ability to influence, inspire and motivate A full driver's license is essential for this position. You must also legally be able to work fulltime in Aotearoa, New Zealand. Skills and experience New Zealand Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching or equivalent qualification Transferrable life skills Strong cultural practice Demonstrated competency in using computer applications including Microsoft Office suite and the TEC Literacy and Numeracy Adult Assessment Tool (LNAAT) Sound knowledge of the New Zealand Qualifications Framework Benefits The salary range is $77,841 - $86,152 per annum. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
