Central Hawke’s Bay District Council is looking for a Community Facilities Officer to join our Community Facilities Team for a 12‑month fixed-term opportunity. Reporting to the Community Facilities Manager, this role supports the effective management and coordination of Council’s community facilities portfolio, helping ensure our community assets remain safe, sustainable and fit for purpose for current and future generations. Working across asset management, operational delivery, compliance, health and safety, stakeholder engagement and facility improvement projects, you’ll play a key role in supporting facilities that contribute to the wellbeing and quality of life of our communities. Central Hawke’s Bay District Council is looking for a Community Facilities Officer to join our Community Facilities Team for a 12‑month fixed-term opportunity. Reporting to the Community Facilities Manager, this role supports the effective management and coordination of Council’s community facilities portfolio, helping ensure our community assets remain safe, sustainable and fit for purpose for current and future generations. Working across asset management, operational delivery, compliance, health and safety, stakeholder engagement and facility improvement projects, you’ll play a key role in supporting facilities that contribute to the wellbeing and quality of life of our communities. This role involves Managing and improving Council’s community facility asset information, inspections and condition assessments. Supporting asset management planning and continuous improvement initiatives across the community facilities portfolio. Coordinating minor maintenance and improvement projects, ensuring delivery on time and within budget. Working with contractors, consultants and service providers to support facility maintenance and upgrades. Promoting compliance, health and safety, and best-practice facility management across Council facilities. Building strong relationships with community groups, facility users and Council teams while supporting the operational management of community facilities, including the district’s seasonal public pool. Experience and qualifications We are looking for someone who is organised, proactive, and community-focused, with a passion for improving public facilities and delivering positive outcomes for residents and visitors. You will bring: Experience in asset management, facilities management, project coordination, infrastructure, property or recreation-related environments. Strong relationship-building, stakeholder engagement and communication skills. The ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and work effectively across a range of projects. A practical, solutions-focused approach, with strong attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement. Experience using asset management systems and Microsoft Office applications, along with knowledge of facility operations, maintenance and compliance requirements is desirable. A relevant qualification (or equivalent experience), with knowledge of local government, Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tikanga Māori considered advantageous.
