Lead Builder

Overhaul Construction Ltd is seeking an experienced Lead Builder to join our team on a contract basis . Based in Takanini, Auckland , this role is pivotal to our operations within the building trades sector. As Lead Builder, you will be responsible for overseeing construction projects from inception through to completion, ensuring adherence to safety standards, budgets and timelines. This position holds strategic importance in maintaining our reputation for quality workmanship and professional service delivery across our portfolio of building projects. Key responsibilities Manage and oversee all aspects of construction projects on site, ensuring work is completed to specification and quality standards Supervise and coordinate trades workers and subcontractors to ensure efficient workflow and project progression Conduct daily site inspections and maintain comprehensive records of project activities, materials and labour Ensure strict compliance with health and safety regulations, building codes and company policies at all times Manage project budgets and materials, minimising waste and controlling costs without compromising quality Communicate regularly with project managers, clients and stakeholders to provide updates and address concerns Identify and resolve on-site issues promptly, making practical decisions to keep projects on schedule Prepare and maintain accurate documentation including progress reports, safety records and as-built documentation Mentor and guide junior site staff, contributing to their development and ensuring consistent standards across the team What we're looking for Minimum 7+ years of experience working as a builder or in a senior construction leadership role Current and valid New Zealand Building Practitioner Licence or equivalent recognised qualification Comprehensive knowledge of the National Building Code and relevant building regulations Proven experience managing multiple construction projects simultaneously Strong supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage teams effectively Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with various stakeholders Sound understanding of project management, budgeting and resource planning Demonstrated commitment to health and safety best practices and a proactive approach to risk management Physical fitness and ability to work on site in varying weather conditions Proficiency with construction management software and digital documentation tools is desirable Experience in residential or commercial building projects within Auckland is advantageous What we offer Overhaul Construction Ltd is committed to supporting our team members with competitive remuneration commensurate with experience and qualifications.
