Job Description
Maintenance Fitter or mechanically minded person Claymark employs over 650 people across six sites and is New Zealand’s largest manufacturer and exporter of premium pine products, sourced from sustainably managed Radiata Pine forests. About the Role You’ll be part of a maintenance team supporting a busy, production‑focused workshop team, ensuring plant and equipment remain reliable and available to support daily production requirements. Typical duties include Responding to breakdowns and keeping production losses to a minimum Mechanical fault‑finding and repairs on Maintenance equipment Workshop‑based fabrication, machining and welding Planned preventive maintenance and PM checks Working safely at all times and following Claymark’s health and safety systems strictly Shifts are 4 days on / 4 days off, working 12‑hour shifts. There is no on‑call roster. Person Specifications We're looking for a practical, safety-focused Maintenance Fitter who enjoys hands‑on work, solving problems, and being part of a reliable team that takes pride in keeping production running. You’ll bring Fitter / Turner experience (engineering qualification preferred but not essential) Strong mechanical and machining skills Ability to think clearly under pressure and prioritise breakdown work A genuine commitment to health and safety — no shortcuts A practical, “get stuck in” approach, with the ability to stay organised and manage your workload effectively The ability to work well in a close team Experience in sawmills or similar heavy manufacturing environments is an advantage, but transferable skills are welcome.
