About The Role We are seeking a dynamic leader to oversee one of our key maintenance contracts, managing an annual programme valued at $25–26 million and a 1,200-kilometer roading network across North Waikato. As the contract transitions into its second year of a potential ten-year term, this role offers a unique opportunity to lead a well-established operation while influencing its future direction. In collaboration with the Waikato District Council, you will provide strategic, commercial, and operational leadership to ensure outstanding outcomes for the network and the communities we serve. The programme encompasses areas such as Tuakau, Pokeno, Huntly, and Te Kauwhata, and includes routine maintenance, renewals, unsealed road grading, and emergency response activities. You will lead a capable operational team, driving performance and fostering strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure the long‑term success of the contract. Key Responsibilities Lead the delivery, performance, and profitability of the contract. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and subcontractors. Drive commercial outcomes through effective financial management and risk assessment. Lead operations, renewals, and support teams to achieve results. Oversee governance, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives. Champion safety, quality, and customer satisfaction in all operations. Requirements Extensive experience in leading large‑scale road maintenance contracts. Relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Asset Management, or a related field. Strong understanding of contract and asset management principles. Proven commercial acumen, including experience with budgets, forecasts, and risk management. Ability to build trusted relationships across clients, teams, and partners. A collaborative leadership style paired with strong communication and decision‑making skills.
