About the role We are seeking a Speech Language Therapist in a fixed term/secondment (4 months), full-time capacity to provide parental leave cover - there may potentially be some flexibility in extending this fixed term.The primary purpose of the role is to provide a family centred, culturally sensitive, community based, safe, effective, outcome focused speech language therapy service to children with disabilities referred to the Multidisciplinary Child Development Service.The Speech Language Therapist (core role) is a clinical role working within the area of community paediatric practice. This clinical role focus is upon providing speech language therapy care for children and whānau within the inter-disciplinary team setting. The role is based within a Locality team and works within the Speech Language Therapy team with clinical support from a Senior Speech Language Therapist and the Speech Language Therapist Practice Supervisor. About the team Based at Greenlane Clinical Centre, Starship Community provides interdisciplinary care and cultural support to children; young people, their families and whānau living within the Auckland area. A part of the Starship Child Health directorate, our nursing; allied health and technical staff are responsible for delivering health care services to children; young people, and whānau in their home; school and community settings. Service delivery is via an inter-disciplinary team approach, centred around three guiding principles;Whānau- centred approachElimination of inequities in achieving health and wellbeing outcomes for Māori and other priority populations with high health and/or social needs.Knowing and working closely within the community (Locality based) About you To succeed in this role, you will: Be a registered Speech Language Therapist in New Zealand with a current Annual Practising Certificate Hold a full and clean NZ drivers license Have relevant clinical experience in health and/or disability sectors Have an understanding of the significance of the and obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi, including how to apply Te Tiriti principles in a meaningful way in your role Have an overriding passion for improving outcomes for children Ideally you will have previous paediatric experience, including experience in paediatric dysphagia, although applicants with the right qualifications and keen interest in providing excellent paediatric Speech Language Therapy will be considered.
