Senior or Intermediate Resource Consents Planner Central Hawke's Bay District Council - Waipawa, North Island Central Hawke's Bay District Council is a local authority in the Hawke's Bay region, based in Waipawa (approximately 40km south of Hastings). About the opportunity We're looking for a Senior or Intermediate Resource Consents Planner to join our Consents team. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) and a great opportunity for planners who enjoy variety and want to make a tangible difference in a growing and changing district. With our District Plan operative in part and a plan change underway, you'll be part of a small team working in a dynamic environment that is adapting to the needs of our community and future growth in Central Hawke's Bay. Reporting to the Resource Consents Manager, you'll manage resource consent applications across land use and subdivision, provide planning advice to applicants and the wider community, and support monitoring of environmental outcomes. Key responsibilities include: Managing a range of resource consent and subdivision applications Provide planning advice to the public, applicants and stakeholders Apply the District Plan and provide feedback to the Planning Policy Manager Support the training and mentoring of staff Maintain and improve processes and templates to reflect current legislation and policy Work with the Resource Consents Manager to develop and refine guidance, templates and best practice You'll bring NZPI membership (preferred, but not essential) Confidence engaging with a diverse range of people and perspectives Strong written and verbal communication skills We welcome qualified planners with a range of experience and backgrounds who are ready to get stuck in and help shape quality development outcomes for the district. For a senior appointment, you'll ideally have 4-5+ years' relevant planning experience; however, capable intermediate planners are encouraged to apply. You might be ready to step up, or you may be experienced, looking for a change of pace and the chance to work across a broad range of consents.
