Team Leader - Youth

Te mahi tūranga – About the role Mahitahi Trust is seeking an experienced and passionate Youth Team Leader to provide leadership, oversight and support across our rangatahi-focused services. This dynamic leadership role combines people leadership, programme management, stakeholder engagement and service delivery, ensuring positive educational, wellbeing and social outcomes for rangatahi and whānau. As Youth Team Leader, you will lead and support kaimahi delivering youth-focused services, ensuring programmes are culturally responsive, outcomes-focused and aligned with kaupapa Māori values. You will work closely with schools, community partners, whānau and key stakeholders to strengthen opportunities for rangatahi and contribute to sustainable positive outcomes within our communities. The successful candidate will provide day-to-day leadership, mentoring and professional development to staff while supporting the ongoing growth, quality and effectiveness of youth services across the organisation. Demonstrated leadership experience, ideally within education, youth development, wellbeing, social services, or community-based programmes. Excellent communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to engage effectively with rangatahi, whānau, schools, and community stakeholders. Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills with a solutions-focused approach. Understanding of kaupapa Māori approaches and a commitment to improving outcomes for Māori and whānau. Knowledge of the education, youth development, and wellbeing sectors. The ability to lead, inspire, and support a team to achieve positive outcomes for rangatahi and communities. Consent to and undergo pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. Consent to Driver Check, NZ Police Vetting and/or Ministry of Justice checks. Hold a current full New Zealand Driver Licence. Be eligible to work in New Zealand.
