Keystone Business Services Ltd – Christchurch, South Island For more than 50 years, Intelligro has supplied high-quality growing media to horticultural growers and nurseries across the South Island. Alongside this core expertise, we also supply a wide range of landscape materials including mulches, soils, and bulk landscape products, along with our Safefall playground surfacing used in parks, schools, and community spaces. We are seeking a practical, hands-on leader to oversee the day-to-day production and manufacturing operations of the business while supporting and developing the operational team. The Opportunity This leadership role is focused on production, manufacturing, logistics coordination, and operational performance. The role is intended to provide strong day-to-day operational leadership while allowing the General Manager to focus more heavily on strategic planning, business development, and wider operational improvement initiatives. Your focus will be to Lead and support the day-to-day manufacturing, production, and supporting operations and activities Coordinate production activities, scheduling, and workflow across the site Ensure operators are well organised, supported, and working safely Collect and analyse production related data to assist with efficiency improvements Maintain high standards of Health & Safety and operational discipline Help ensure customer orders are delivered in full, on time, and to specification Support equipment performance, maintenance coordination, and site organisation Drive operational efficiency, productivity, and continuous improvement Assist with staff training, coaching, and performance development Help build a positive, team-focused operational culture aligned with company values Success in this role comes from being a strong hands-on leader who can balance people leadership, operational organisation, and practical problem solving. About You You are someone who enjoys leading from the front and being actively involved in the operation rather than just sitting behind a desk. You may come from industries such as: Manufacturing or production operations Transport and logistics Quarrying or bulk materials handling Landscape supply or contracting Agricultural or horticultural operations Machinery operation or heavy equipment environments You will bring: Proven leadership experience within production or operational environments Strong organisational, planning, and coordination skills The ability to work within established systems and processes, hold people accountable, yet take initiative to drive continuous improvement across every facet A practical mechanical aptitude with a strong operational mindset The ability to lead people in a calm, respectful, and accountable manner A proactive, analytical, and solutions-focused approach Confidence coordinating workflow, equipment, and manpower requirements A sound understanding of workplace Health & Safety Strong communication and relationship-building skills across all levels of the business You will ideally be: A hands-on and practical leader Well organised and dependable Comfortable making decisions and solving problems A positive influence within a team environment Energetic, resilient, and willing to learn Someone who takes pride in maintaining high operational standards Willing and able to pitch in and help out in performing various tasks in the site operation when the need arises Experience leading teams in manufacturing, logistics, contracting, or operational environments would be highly valued.
