Community Support Worker - AOD

About the role Pact is seeking passionate and resilient Support Workers to be part of our new 16‑week residential AOD treatment programme for tāne and wāhine transitioning from prison. Located in Kapiti, this is a unique opportunity to walk alongside whaiora on a journey grounded in mātauranga Māori and evidence‑based practice. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team delivering a kaupapa Māori‑informed model based on the Pōwhiri Poutama framework, supporting whaiora as they move from tapu to noa — rediscovering their identity, reconnecting with whānau, and rebuilding a life free from substance use and offending. Key Responsibilities Provide consistent, person‑centred support in a therapeutic community environment Build strong, culturally safe relationships with whaiora, walking alongside them through the stages of recovery Support daily routines including life skills, cultural practices, therapeutic activities, and community engagement Maintain a safe and welcoming environment aligned with trauma‑informed and tikanga‑based practice Participate in daily house meetings, peer feedback processes, and programme events such as pōwhiri and poroporoaki Collaborate closely with clinicians, cultural advisors, and whānau to support holistic wellbeing Model recovery‑oriented behaviours and uphold the values of the therapeutic community What we're looking for A genuine passion for supporting people navigating complex challenges including addiction, trauma, and reintegration Cultural humility and a commitment to honouring te ao Māori, including tikanga, te reo, and whānau‑centred practice Understanding of (or willingness to be trained in) Pōwhiri Poutama, trauma‑informed care, and therapeutic community principles Lived experience of recovery or justice involvement (optional but valued) Strong communication, empathy, and boundary‑setting skills Ability to work rostered shifts (including evenings, weekends, and sleepovers) A full New Zealand driver licence What will Pact offer you?
